Crochet-Obsessed

My two-stick phase was short-lived, and I have been doing nothing lately but crocheting (apparently, I am digging the blue-on-white).
For an expectant friend of my mom’s:
The beginnings of an afghan for my sister (hopefully a house-warming gift if I can finish it by September):
The pic is dingy ’cause I was too impatient to bother with lighting.

I Haven’t Been This Excited Since I Discovered Harry/Ron Slash Fiction!

I hate tribute vids, but this was easier than making you all watch The Big Quiz 2006, 2007, and all other videos related to these sexy beasts.
I didn’t think God existed until yesterday when I stumbled upon some Noel Fielding/Russell Brand slash fiction during my late-night jaunt across the internet. Now I know for sure that there is a higher power smiling down upon me. I have been born again. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

It’s Smartifying!

I have a new blog/self-betterment project on the go. I am learning all about current events (and everything else I’m too lazy to care about), and you can help!

I applied for a job in Toronto a few months ago, but at the last minute, they decided not to hire in Canada and the opportunity fell through. At the time, I was relieved. I would love love love a change, but it’s a big move. If I was single, I wouldn’t have any issues but I have to think about Chase (and Dexter – the puppies were born yesterday!!), too.
Tonight, I got an e-mail from the recruiter. They’re hiring again, and he wants to know if I’m interested. There are SEVERAL positions, so the chances of me actually getting hired are even higher than they were last time, and now I don’t know what to do.
Pros:
The money is significantly better, as are the benefits
More chances for advancement
It would get me out of the call centre I’m currently working at
Jeremy is there
More experience
The job is related to what I do now
Closer to my brother and Chase’s family
My contract at work is up soon
My lease is up in September
It would be a new and exciting adventure
It’s kind of too good of an opportunity to pass up
Cons:
I may have to commute
I may have to live away from Chase
Chase may have to move (after recently getting a promotion at work)
I just decided to get a dog, and I don’t think Chase and I can get one if we’re living apart
I’d be leaving Peterborough and my Peterborough friends here
Toronto is expensive
I am comfortable where I am
Crappity crap crap crap.
My First Zipper

In an effort to find something to house my growing cosmetics collection, I made a makeup bag. It was my first zipper, and even though the bag itself is slightly wonky, I am super proud. I’m kind of in love with it, actually. I also made a little flannel swabby thing to go with it. You know how girls use those big things of disposable cotton pads to take their makeup off with? This is a washable, eco-friendly version of the same thing! I tried it out this morning and it works like a charm.
One of my co-workers approached me about splitting on a craft table sometime soon so we can sell our wares together at a show. I think I may make a few of these bags, with matching swabbies, to take with me.
I Miss Linz

I went to Sarah’s birthday shindig tonight and I am a little intoxicated right now. I have to tell you, it feels really weird; I’m not used to drinking without my best friend, Lindsay. In fact, I can’t remember the last real party I went to that she did not attend. It’s strange getting drunk without her – she’s usually there to let me drink her booze when she’s not looking, or laugh at my stupid antics, or cut me off when it becomes apparent that I’ve had too much. If tonight had been one of her parties, I’d be passed out on top of one of her ex-boyfriends right now. She’d wake me up around 2 or 3am, tell me it’s time to come home, and then she would kiss me on the forehead and tuck me into bed with some hot dude. Obviously, that didn’t happen tonight. Instead, I got tired, started to feel bored in a yard filled with strangers, and came home like the old lady I am. I didn’t know what else to do. There is no hot dude waiting for me, either. Chase is out celebrating someone else’s birthday this evening and I am left by myself, missing Lindsay, and stumbling into bed alone.
Sarah’s Gift Bag

Last night I was struck with an urge to make something, so I whipped up a gift bag for Sarah’s birthday present. She’s an avid PostCrosser, and she has a stack of more than 100 postcards that she hasn’t decided what to do with yet. I thought I’d give her some more postcards to send (pictured), and, at the same time, provide her with a cute bag she can store her mail in. I hope she likes it!
