You’re smarter than you give yourself credit for, with the (ever expanding) library you have and I think you know more of things than you think.
With that… I think the problem is that a your internet viewership has become locked onto celebrity gossip and youtube-ish buttholes who, although are giving their opinions, thoughts, creativity and making the internet the social & community based tool it should be, are mostly talking about nothing.
…but… you’re obviously willing to go beyond, expand, and learn more.
I think this is a superb idea you’ve had.
I’ll post this here, as well on your new baby (haha), but my 1st recommendation is you peruse some of the interviews on TED.

http://en.wikipedia.org/ – because sometimes i need to look up words like Gynecomastia, learn a word in Spanish, or figure out how the Germans feel about sticky toffee…
http://dlisted.com/ – because i MUST know about Nicole Kidman’s birthing soundtrack, or about the guy who was so into the NYC Marathon that he pooped himself…and kept going!
